From Agrajags post about his new froggy buddy. Every night, even if a storm rolls in and it gets dark from the cloud coverage...

Heard a god awful WURRRRRRR sound at like 3 am one morning. Went outside and this far toad was on my patio (outside my bedroom window) wurling away - so loud it hurt your ears. I shooshed him away and he stopped. Back to bed.

5 minutes later he’s back, same spot, same ungodly sound. I was so irate I picked him up and tossed him like 20 feet into my neighbors yard. Worst part is I actually felt bad bout what I’d done as he flew gently through the air.”

Also, the bees are coming back and I’m going to go buy some more flower boxes and grow jalapenos

Sometimes nature can be a noisy PITA, but it can create some amazing sites.

At a distance it’s pretty nice because they all get in synch with each other. When it’s right there it’s stupid loud.

Yeah, if they’re right there it’s annoying. It’s a sound I don’t get to enjoy enough being in town. Oh how I’d love to live in the country.

Or, option B: get a cottage. You can live in the city and have a secluded place to go to on weekends!

Well that involves having money to do that, but it’s something I’d love to do.

It’s worth it. Especially the view. Grew up (very fortunately) with the family having a cottage, so it’s an aspiration of mine to get one of my own.

View from part of the island.

My family never had a cottage/cabin in my life but we’ve had an RV so I’ve been camping some places I’d love to have a lake cottage. Especially up in the Adirondacks but that’s probably expensive as heck.

Or get some land up here in Canada! Which might be cheaper! (I have no idea)

I’ve never done RV camping before.

I’m not sure how much cheaper it’d be to buy land in Canada, plus I don’t know how easy it’d be as an American as well.

It’s a pretty nice experience. Some may prefer tenting but at least with an RV you’re out of the elements when the weather turns poorly. It’s a lot more comfortable sleeping too, although we still do many camping things that you’d expect during a camping trip.

We were able to find a drive-up cottage about two hours north of Toronto for roughly $300,000, although it needed some work. Decent sized lot, though.

The family one that picture is from, no idea how much. It’s at least a 15 minute boat ride from any harbour though, so not much in the way of convenience.

In terms of ease of purchase as an American? No idea.

Being out of the elements sounds nice. But dreadful weather is half the fun of camping.

I’m sure it wouldn’t be all that hard but I’m no expert on international real estate. I’d love to have a cottage out in Western Montana or Alberta though, absolutely lovely area. Kinda out in the Banff area.

It can be fun but it’s nice not having all of your stuff getting soaked through.
